My problem with symbolist art is that much of it reads to easily. When I wrote that it is 'to narrative,' I guess I meant that the narrative is like a one liner joke rather than a rich novelistic story telling that one can peel back the layers of meaning.Todd Camplinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11735574643827102148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16792749.post-55151037404975244162011-02-18T06:31:55.991-06:002011-02-18T06:31:55.991-06:00Is it possible to not have reference to an outside...Is it possible to not have reference to an outside narrative? Not if it's going to be understood or understandible.Troy Camplinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16515578686042143845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16792749.post-77427114579648699012011-02-06T20:00:21.943-06:002011-02-06T20:00:21.943-06:00Much of today's "Visionary" art (Ale...Much of today's "Visionary" art (Alex Grey et al) shares with the Symbolists those overworked and burdened qualities. At the same time I also want my word to carry more meaning. The problem seems to be how to allow the image to stand on its own without referencing some pre-existing narrative.Chad Wootershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02249490159318141441noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16792749.post-10785448062984492762011-01-23T16:10:04.600-06:002011-01-23T16:10:04.600-06:00You should come and check out this totally awesome...You should come and check out this totally awesome new blog on economic and literature.
