Teaching the same art history book 3 years in a roll has been really beneficial. I have been picking up some comparable insight to out current scene, plus I have been reminded of what I could be doing different in my own work. Like the Baroque period, which we currently seem to mirror today. Setting a dramatic stage is an important part of telling the story of our age. The amount of wealth concentration is starting to look similar to that age too. This new oligarchy class is uber rich and they want to flaunt their riches in the most extravagant manner. The middle class has been made fun of for so long by artist that many of them have been alienated by art, thus pushing there taste even more conservative direction. Art needs to speak to the 99% and be owned by them too. The taste of the few is driving the new museum collections.
