David Van Ness

David Van Ness is an artist that is using the new 3D printer technology. Van Ness uses new media tools to transform his designs into the real world without the need for human fabrication. Not that some of the work isn't made by hand, but Van Ness is open to use all the tools available to reach his goals as an artist. Van Ness' 'Universal Sculpture' is one such example of the 3D printer, multi-media instructional video using 3D modeling software, and a kind of wink and a nod to industrial revolutionary concept of interchangeable parts. I think the 'Universal Sculpture' project is humorous and fun while being uniquely in Van Ness vision of sculpture.
