Adrián Aguirre

Adrián Aguirre is the first to sign up on the new artist group blog. This image is from his website, its a charcoal on paper titled 'El grito.' His past work has been paintings and drawings about power. His website statement starts out with 'In Latin American politics, populist rhetoric is almost inevitable.' And if you know anything about Latin American history, you know it is filled will a string of charismatic leaders. In many of Aguirre works, you will see authorities projecting their power on the people. In his recent work, he has focus on the less powerful migrant workers and their relationship to authorities or their relationship to their situation as workers waiting for jobs. His images are beautiful, sublime, sometimes painful, and often times Aguirre creates these tragic ironic images.
